Homeopathy: The Interrelationship between Tissue Salts and the Qualities of Tibb...Part One

Homeopathy: The Interrelationship between Tissue Salts and the Qualities of Tibb...Part One

1. Introduction

Tissue salts are the vital building blocks in manufacturing and maintaining the dynamic equilibrium of the cells in the body. It forms the basis of blood, which contains all the material for all the tissues; from the capillary vessels, arteries and veins, to every tissue and organ, which supplies nutrients and oxygen to every part of the body.

Each nerve, muscle, bone, cartilage, connective tissue, skin and mucous membrane is dependent on the correct balance of the molecular motion and structure of the mineral salts and water content in the body. Any disturbance in this equilibrium results in abnormal conditions, which are known as disease.

The common denominator which links the philosophy of the biochemistry of tissue salts and Tibb is the fact that any disturbance in the molecular motion in living tissues can be rectified by restoring the equilibrium, with the process of correcting any imbalances. Biochemistry corrects imbalances with minute quantities of the same tissue salt which is deficient; while Tibb acknowledges that the tissue salt which is given will counteract the qualities of heat, moisture, coldness or dryness, whichever one has an excess or deficiency i.e. an imbalance of the quantity or quality of the respective humors.

Both principles of the biochemistry of tissue salts and the philosophy of Tibb agree that it is more important to understand the person as a whole, integrating the body, mind and the soul, in order for true health to be realised. The innate/inborn intelligence, or ʻnatureʼ, known as Physis in Tibb, is able to assist the body in maintaining the equilibrium, or restoring the balance when ill health prevails. Hippocrates summarised this in his famous quote: “It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has.”

As long as there is a balanced interaction between man and the environment, consuming what is necessary to sustain life and eliminating what is no longer needed, true health will prevail. As long as a person makes the right lifestyle choices for his/her ideal Temperament, the minerals and Humours in the body will be in the correct quantity and in the right proportion, and there will be harmony with the chemistry of the blood and tissues of the body.

The history of tissue salts

The founder of the biochemical tissue salts is Dr Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler, while the founder of the philosophical principles of Tibb is Hippocrates.

Hippocrates (469-377 BC) was a Greek philosopher and physician who is known as the Father of Medicine. He conceptualised the theory of humours, on which much of Tibb is based. These four humours circulate in the body, and they determine the unique physical, mental and emotional characteristics of an individual, which became known as Temperament, namely: Sanguinous, Phlegmatic, Melancholic and Bilious. Each Temperament has its own combination of the qualities of heat and moisture, coldness and moisture, coldness and dryness and heat and dryness, respectively.

The unique Temperament of an individual enables one to predict who is more predisposed to certain illnesses conditions. This enables one to balance the qualities of heat, moistness, coldness and dryness by making the right lifestyle choices, especially concerning nutrition and the intake of tissue salts. “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” (Hippocrates).

Hippocrates also developed the theory of Physis, meaning “the organism in its unity”. He postulated that life entails a reciprocal relationship between the organism and its environment, and imbalances in these humours, he believed, caused disease.4 He carefully studied and compared different symptoms of the body and he laid down the foundation for clinical medicine based on diet, movement and rest.

In 1839 Matthias Jakob Schleidenand Theodor Schwann developed the tissue salt theory, which states that all organisms are composed of one or more cells; that all cells come from pre-existing cells; that vital functions of an organism occur within cells, and that all cells contain the hereditary information necessary for regulating cell functions and transmitting information to the next generation of cells.7

Dr Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler (1821-1898) continued the work of Schleiden and Schwann, and he identified and produced the biochemical tissue salts. He was bornin the town of Zwischenahn, Oldenburg, in Germany. After he studied medicine, he practised homeopathy, under the guidance of the well-renowned homoeopathist, Dr Samuel Hahnemann; the latter who was involved in investigating the pathological effects and therapeutic uses of tissue salts. Schuesslerʼs research in the field of homeopathy enabled him to write various journals and books, amongst which were: ʻAn Abridged Therapy Based on Physiology and Cellular Pathology.ʼ

Rudolph Ludwig Karl Virchow (1821-1902) was a German physician, anthropologist, politician and social reformer, but he is best known as the founder of the field of cellular pathology. He stressed that most of the diseases of mankind could be understood in terms of the dysfunction of cells.27His theory of cellular pathology became a basis for the understanding and fight against pathological processes in living organisms.

The development of pathological anatomy in the second half of the 19th century was attributed to Virchow.28He inferred that each cell must arise from a pre-existing cell29and pathological cells were also derived from other pathological cells. He was the first to recommend a systemic microscopic study of tissues.30

2. The Principles of Tissue Salts

Biochemistry does not deal with names and effects; it deals with causes, the chemistry of life, and the law of supplying deficiencies. Tibb shares this philosophy as it also searches for the underlying causes for any humoral changes and imbalances.1

The word biochemistry is formed from ʻbiosʼ, the Greek word for ʻthe course of lifeʼ; and chemistry, which means ʻthe knowledge of the elements and the laws which govern their combination and behaviour.ʼ2

Biochemistry integrates the course of life with that of the elements, while Tibb incorporates the course of life and elements together with the humoral theory of maintaining the correct proportion, strength and quantity of body fluids. These body fluids are represented in Tibb as Blood, Phlegm, Black Bile and Yellow Bile. Each one of these fluids has a predominance of heat and moisture, coldness and moisture, coldness and dryness and heat and dryness, respectively.

Each tissue salt also has a corresponding quantity and quality of heat, moisture, coldness and dryness. Any alteration to this ideal composition will result in disease.

The combination of the biochemistry of life and medicine incorporates the very essence of the ʻelixir of healthʼ (medicine and mineral salts), together with Physis.

Both principles of biochemistry and Tibb emphasise that disease is a natural process, and that its symptoms are the predictable reactions of the body.3

These diseases are labelled according to how they manifest themselves in different ways and in different parts of the body, but these labels fail to express the true problem. Disease is a condition due to a lack of some inorganic constituent of the blood – the cure is to supply the blood with the tissue salt which is lacking.5

A true cure is only possible when one knows what, why, how, when and where a change to the ideal humoural composition has taken place, so that one can restore the body to its ideal composition of minerals, heat, moisture, coldness or dryness for each individual person.

Digestion and assimilation of macro nutrients, found in food, drinks, herbs and medication, is dependent upon its counterpart, micro-nutrients, which are found in tissue salts; the latter which has become deficient in the body due to poor farming interventions, electromagnetic radiation, and poor lifestyle practices amongst other factors.

Tissue salts build up the constitutional health of a person over long period of time, by rebuilding the tissues and organs. The aim of integrating tissue salts into the Tibb protocol is to preserve health and endeavour to restore it when it is lost.

“Nature heals, and the physician is only natureʼs assistant” (Hippocrates).

There are six lifestyle factors in health maintenance and the cause of illnesses and conditions, which include: environmental air and breathing; sleep and wakefulness; elimination and retention; movement and rest; emotions and feelings, as well as food and drink. The emphasis is on prevention rather than cure.

Schuessler analyzed the ash residue of human cells and found 12 inorganic mineral salts. He theorized that these 12 elements are critical to balancing cellular activity and health. He made 12 remedies in low trituration in order to be assimilated rapidly and easily into the body.8

There is also an additional 15 tissue salts, from noʼs 13 – 27, which are responsible for the more complex ailments and conditions. In South Africa these salts are not available in tablet form, and they can only be prescribed and prepared by a trained ATIFA tissue salt consultant for a specific individualʼs needs.

Schuessler did not classify the tissue salts in the form of numbers, but rather by their respective names. For ease of reference and use of the tissue salts, each one has allocated a number by the more modern contemporary biochemists.8

Schussler maintained that disease does not occur if cell metabolism is normal, and cell metabolism is normal if cell nutrition is adequate. The ability of the body to assimilate and to excrete and further utilise nutritional material is impaired if there is a deficiency in the inorganic tissue salts. Adequate cell nutrition can be restored and cellular metabolism can be normalized by supplying the required tissue salts to the organism in finely divided assimilable forms.31

Tissue salts, also known as "cell salts" or "biochemistry salts", are the same minerals that are found in rocks and in soil, and which occur naturally in the human body.9

These minerals are vital for the health and well-being of every individual. They are responsible for building cells, bones, tissues, muscles, nerves etc. and every other part of the body; a lack of which will result in disease. Tissue Salts function by repairing, maintaining and nourishing living tissue and they are considered to be the building blocks of cells.

Tissue salts works well with other remedies, such as herbs, vitamins and mineral supplements. The absorption of other remedies is enhanced by the salts, due to its micro-nutrients, which assist the macro nutrientʼs assimilation.8

“When a twig is broken from a tree a new one will grow provided it is give the correct amount of water, sunlight and nutrients from the soil. The human body, however, can only utilise its constituent parts”5

The cells of the body will function to its optimal capacity when the internal and external environment is in harmony with one another. Physis will assist in the elimination of any excess of material in the body, and it will assimilate the necessary nutrients.

The body is made up of cells. There are specific cells for specific organs and tissues of the body. The difference in the cells is largely determined by the type and composition of the inorganic salts which make up a cell. If the body or any tissues of the body is burned, it leaves behind ashes, which are the inorganic constituents of the body.5

3. The constituents of tissue salts in the body

• The inorganic materials of nerve cells are Mag phos, Kali phos, Natrium and Ferrum.

• Muscle cells contain Mag phos, Kali phos, Natrium, Ferrum, as well as the addition of Kali Mur.

• Connective tissue cells contain Silica, while the elastic tissue of cells contains Calcfluor.

• The bones contain Calcfluor and Mag phos, as well as a large portion of Calcphos.

• Calcphos is found in small quantities in the cells of muscles, nerves, brain and connective tissue.

• Cartilage and mucous cells contain Nat mur, which also occurs in all solid and fluid parts of the body.

• Hair and crystalline lens contain, among other inorganic substances, also Ferrum.12

4. The different philosophies in treatment

The Tibb philosophy believes that each person carries within himself/herself an inherent wisdom, a mechanism that allows the body to heal itself. This remarkable ability of the body is known as Physis; it maintains health, preserves life and cures disease.

The Tibb philosophy also maintains that each individual person has his own ideal combination of heat, moisture, coldness and dryness in the body, with predominance in one of these qualities, and a sub-dominance of another, and less of the other two qualities. Tibb refers to this as Temperament.

Depending on whether the body has a predominance of heat, moisture, coldness or dryness, any excess or deficiency of the predominant quality will result in changes to the balance of the personʼs ideal qualitative state.

There can either be changes in the quantity of heat, moistness, coldness or dryness, resulting in conditions such as: tight skin, dull movements, feeling of weight in the limbs, or poor appetite; or changes in the quality, resulting in conditions such as sluggishness, loss of appetite, or sensations of itching or burning.4

The ideal Temperament can be restored by promoting healthy lifestyles and appropriate treatment and interventions.6

The Conventional Allopathic philosophy artificially and forcefully suppresses the symptoms of disease with medication, which can become toxic to the body, with little attention given to its causes.

The Homeopathic philosophy

Works with potencies at a very high level, and tissue salts are not administered according to the ʻLaw of Similarityʼ, which states: ʻlike cures like,ʼ or that a medicine can cure a sick person if it can cause similar sickness in a healthy person.

The Tissue Salt philosophy

Tissue salts are not classified as homeopathic because they are not selected according to the principle of similarity. They are chemically pure salts, homogeneous to the cell minerals in the human body and physiologically and chemically in close relation to them. However, the law of minimum dose does apply, whereby the same principle applies to the dilution of tissue salt remedies, where minute doses of the respective salt will achieve the desired result.

According to how disease manifests itself in various ways and in different parts of the body, this will require re-establishing the correct balance of the minerals in the body which are deficient. This is achieved by removing any excess or deficiency in the body, by either removing the excess or replacing the deficiency by administering the same mineral salt that is deficient in the body in small quantities.

5. The causes of tissue salt deficiencies

Modern lifestyles drain minerals through stress, worry, bad nutrition, industrially tainted foodstuffs, electro-pollution (from cell phones, microwaves, computers), through environmental toxins (insecticides, pesticides, preservatives etc.), as well as exposure to heavy metals such as amalgam dental fillings, lead, aluminium and contaminated drinking water.9

Research has shown that the soil of the southern hemisphere is depleted of Zinc, Magnesium and Selenium – the latter being one of the most crucial immune boosters; whereas in the northern hemisphere, where the country of Senegal is rich in Selenium, immune diseases are very rare.13

According to Schoenfeld, most people believe that minerals, on the cellular level, can be replaced by vitamins and nutritional supplements:

"Vitamins and supplements can only get cellular acceptance provided the cells are adequately mineral-enriched and balanced in the first place. If these minerals (tissue salts) are absent, the body will battle to absorb even a tiny fraction of these 'intruders'. In this case, the supplements will rather become a stress factor for the cells, which are missing the minerals for their intra- and extra-cellular balance to pave a smooth entry for vitamins and other substances."

Schoenfeld uses the example of anaemia: "If the iron level in the cells is depleted, the body won't be able to absorb the iron. But once one has had sufficient tissue salts and refilled its deposits, the body will be able to absorb the iron, and that is the same case with every vitamin or food supplement. The body has to be enabled to receive any benefit from them."13The following main points are highlighted:

Emotional disturbances

Negative attitudes, unresolved emotional issues, the consequences of words and negative childhood experiences, leave imprints in the cellular memory. This influences the personality and the way a person reacts to any given circumstance.

There may be a sudden release of anger or other destructive behaviours onto an unsuspecting person, who is not the object of the emotional reaction. Self-mutilation, addictions and abusive behaviour, are only some examples of unresolved, subconscious emotional traumas.

The consequences of psychosomatic phenomena influence the metabolic rate of the body, by slowing it down, thereby depleting the energy levels and vitality. This uses up a lot of tissue salts, hence its depletion. This is transferred in utero to the child, who will carry this negative emotional and physiological blueprint throughout his/her life. This pattern can be broken by addressing the psychosocial issues and by replenishing the mineral deficiencies.

The human energy field

This is part of the life force energy field and it is like a template or network of energy points with which the physical molecules of the body are aligned. The field, within and outside of our bodies stores information including our thoughts, past and present. This field surrounds and runs through the body, holding within it information which reflects the current physical mental and emotional condition of the individual. It also contains the original "blueprint" of health. Negative emotions can build up within the field, and if left uncleared, may lead to physical illness and emotional and mental imbalance.14

Geopathic stress

The word ʻgeopathicʼ is derived from the Greek words, ʻGeoʼ, meaning ʻthe earth,ʼ and ʻpathosʼ meaning ʻdiseaseʼ or ʻsuffering,ʼ thus literally meaning ʻsuffering on earthʼ. Geopathic stress is negative energies, or harmful earth rays, which emanate from the earth and cause discomfort and ill health. The earthʼs surface is woven with etheric threads, identical in energy and importance as acupuncture meridians are to the human body.15

Some examples are water veins, earth grids, geological faults and radioactive radiation. Its influence on the body includes insomnia, feeling cold at night, nightmares, night sweats, nervousness, and depression.13

Schoenfeld adds that when a person is exposed to radiation, the body needs to fight against the disturbance, which uses up a lot of tissue salt no. 5 (Kalium Muriaticum), which is responsible for the glands. The body will only recover if it is refilling the body with the correct tissue salt.13

Amalgam fillings

Amalgam fillings contain mercury which has neurotoxic effects on the nervous system and it is associated with adverse effects in the brain and the kidneys.16

Mirror radiation

Mirrors and any shiny surfaces can reflect back any existing radiation or negative energy fields in the room, thus multiplying its negative effects. In the bedroom, it can cause insomnia, together with other negative emotional reactions.

Electromagnetic radiation

EMR is produced by electrical appliances, power lines, cellular phones, televisions, computers, and electrical cabling etc. If these are in the bedroom, the electromagnetic strain on the body is amplified, especially if cables, cell phones etc. are positioned at the level of the head of where the person is sleeping. This results in disruptive sleep patterns, nightmares and insomnia, as the body has to fight against this constant strain. All electrical plugs should be removed from their sockets at night.

Consequently, cell membranes harden, keeping nutrients out and waste products in. Waste accumulating inside the cells creates a higher concentration of free radicals, leading to both disruption of DNA repair and cellular dysfunction. Damage occurs to proteins on the cell membrane, resulting in disruption of intercellular communication, causing impaired tissue, organ and organism function.

Cats are known to seek out spots in the house where there is a stronger radiation; while dogs are sensitive to radiation and they will avoid these spots.

In Tibb, Physis has to work even harder to try to restore the imbalances of the tissue salt deficiencies, while trying to regenerate the body in such trying conditions.17

Microwave ovens

The nutritional molecules are destroyed by the heating process of microwave ovens, which heats the food from the inside. This also distorts the molecular structure of the foods, and over a period of time it can cause problems with the immune system.18

Craving and refusal of food/other substances

Minerals are depleted when a person craves for, or refuses any substance, because this indicates that there is a deficiency of the particular mineral in the body. The more a person craves for a substance, the bigger the deficiency, for example: The craving of dark chocolate indicates a deficiency of magnesium on a micro (cellular) level. This puts additional strain on the digestive system to digest and assimilate the chocolate, and hence more magnesium is required to aid in this process. The craving disappears once the magnesium levels are restored with the respective tissue salts, namely: tissue salt no. 6 (Kali phos), which is a craving for milk chocolate; and no. 8 (Mag phos), which is a craving for dark chocolate.13

Deficiencies of nutrition and hydration

Soft drinks contain caffeine, which increases stomach acid levels, as well as many chemicals. Drinking sodas especially on an empty stomach alters the acid-alkaline balance, causing inflammation of the lining of the stomach and duodenum, which can lead to the formation of ulcers. The most commonly associated health risks of soft drink consumption are: obesity, diabetes and other blood sugar disorders; tooth decay, osteoporosis and bone fractures; nutritional deficiencies, heart disease, food addictions and eating disorders; neurotransmitter dysfunction from chemical sweeteners, and neurological and adrenal disorders from excessive caffeine.34

Soft drinks and meat contain high amounts of phosphorus and phosphoric acid, which reduce calcium from the bone, affecting bones, teeth and nails. Sodas are known to cause dehydration and increase acidity in the body. It also contains pure carbon dioxide, which can cause death, if consumed in very high quantities. It takes 32 glasses of high pH alkaline water to neutralise one glass of soda.13

Alcohol, black tea and coffee need at least double the quantity of water to enable process of digestion of these substances.13All products which contain sugar will increase the levels of acidity in the body, which are responsible for most rheumatic complaints. Tissue salt no. 9 is responsible for neutralising acid in the body.

Deficiencies at the Macro and Micro levels

Any vitamins or drugs work at the macro level i.e. they work outside of the cells (extracellular); whereas tissue salts work on the micro level i.e. they work inside the cells (intracellular). If there is a deficiency on the macro level, one needs to add tissue salts and fill the deposit before the absorption of macro can happen. Deficiencies at the micro level are only able to be detected by analysing the face, together with signs and symptoms of the body, associated with the respective deficiencies.

The deficiencies at the macro level can be restored by supplying the body with small quantities of the tissue salts which are deficient. This will improve the absorption of vitamins and other drugs.

6. Advice and precautions

The active ingredients of tissue salts are absorbed through the laryngeal mucous membranes of the mouth. The greater the deficiency, the quicker the salts dissolve and the sweater they taste. However, because of the tableting glue of the tissue salt tablets, this requires a longer time to be absorbed, therefore taking more than one tablet at a time will reduce the efficacy of the ingredients.

How to take the tablets

Only take one tablet at a time. The individual tablet can be placed under the tongue or within the buccal cavity of the cheeks, allowing it to completely dissolve; it can be crushed and the pulp can be taken; it can be dissolved in a bottle of still water, and sips of water must ideally be kept in the mouth for about 30 seconds before swallowing. This will enable better absorption through the mucous membranes of the mouth.

Tissue salts are also available in powder form through trained ATIFA consultants. Specific mixtures of tissue salts may be prepared for each personʼs individual needs and deficiencies. There are special mixtures for numerous conditions, which are also made up by the ATIFA stockists. This powder is easily absorbed and dissolved into the mouth. These mixtures can be given to babies in pulp form on a teaspoon, as well as to animals, which will lick off the pulp off from your hand.

The strength of the mixtures of the various salts will depend on the findings of the analysis of the face, together with the signs and symptoms of the body; the combinations may be light, medium, strong or super strong.

Every person reacts differently after taking the salts, which is dependent, not only on the severity of the deficiency, but also on the sensitivity of the person, together with other premorbid medical conditions, and other concomitant medicines and therapies.

Initially only take a knifeʼs tip of powder and increase it slowly as desired when it is well tolerated. Some people may experience light headaches or aches and pains. This is the reaction of the body in response to getting rid of toxins.

Drink lots of water! Eat a well-balanced diet, cutting out excess sugar, sweats, refined foods, soda, alcohol and smoking. Get a good nightʼs sleep; get plenty of fresh air; moderate exercise; relaxation and reducing stress levels, and ensuring adequate bowel movements.

Tibb refers to the above as healthy lifestyle choices. Each person has a unique Temperament, which requires an individualised lifestyle program, to ensure optimal health and performance. Medical advice

NB! Tissue salts are not to replace any medical treatment. Other medication which has been prescribed by a medical practitioner or any other professional person must not be stopped. Please consult your medical specialist if there are any concerns, especially if you are taking blood pressure tablets or if you are on warfarin.

Tissue salts will not conflict with other treatments, but rather it will promote its absorption by enhancing the micronutrients, thereby supporting the macronutrients. Regular follow up by the practitioner/consultant is advised so that the deficiencies can be analysed and the tissue salts can be titrated to slowly reduce its potency.

Diabetics and lactose-intolerant

Diabetics and lactose-intolerant people must dissolve the salts in a wide container of water, without stirring. (48 tablets are equal to one bread unit). After about a half an hour, once all the salts have been dissolved, the water must be strained through a filter in order to get rid of the lactose. If the water is not filtered, the contents can be taken in the mouth, and held for 30 seconds, before spitting it out. This will enable the absorption to be effective through the mucous membranes of the mouth.13

Blood pressure problems

People who have high blood pressure must be careful with taking tissue salt no 9 (Nat mur). This tissue salt is responsible for controlling excessive moisture or dryness in the body. A deficiency of Nat mur can influence the blood and lymphatic systems, as well as the mucous lining of the digestive tract, liver and the spleen. Any alteration in the balance of hydration, either excessive or deficient, will cause high or low blood pressure.

Warfarin

People who take warfarin should be careful with taking tissue salt no. 5 (Kali mur). This salt is responsible for detoxification of the body, and it operates the glands, and it regulates the blood flow by binding fibrous substances. It has the propensity to be a chemical eliminator, which would reduce the efficacy of warfarin.

The above precautions do not mean that these salts have to be avoided altogether; smaller and lighter doses will be well tolerated.

Biochemical remedies are inert in their natural state and for them to work they have to be triturated.

Re-establishing the molecular motion of the cell salts by giving minute quantities of the deficient cell salts improves health. All biochemical salts must be triturated to a level whereby its molecules may penetrate the epithelium of the mouth, oesophagus and reach the blood through the capillary walls.

7. Principles of the Twelve Tissue Salts

The relationship between the qualities of tissue salts with those of Tibb is dependent on many factors, including:

• The effect of the qualities of heat, moistness, coldness and dryness in the body is dependent on the dominant qualities which present in each individual, for example:

 - If a person has a dominant quality of coldness and dryness, any excess of these qualities will result in conditions which are associated with these qualities, such as dry, cracked, hard skin, as well as conditions of the spine and bones.

• The opposite effects of the reactions to deficiencies of the tissue salts, for

example:

- There may be either a craving for a substance or an element, or an absolute refusal of the same substance or element which is deficient in the body.

- There may be opposing conditions from the same tissue salt deficiency, for example: stiffness, hardening and contractions from an excess of cold and dry qualities; or there may be opposite reactions of flaccidity, softening and dilatations from an excess of moisture and heat.

- There may be other opposing conditions from either an excess of dryness from a loss of moisture, as in excessive thirst, decreased sweating, dehydration, a lack of mucous production, or constipation; or there may be the opposite reaction of an excess of moisture, as in no thirst, increased sweating, oedema, an increase in mucous production, or diarrhoea.

Therefore it would seem likely that presentation of the deficiency of the respective tissue salts is dependent on many factors, including:

• The unique Temperament of the individual;

• The ability of Physis to overcome any excesses or deficiencies of the body;

• The causes of tissue salt deficiencies, such as EMR, amalgam fillings, emotional disturbances etc.

• The individual lifestyle choices which a person makes with respect to environmental air and breathing; food and drink; movement and rest; sleep and wakefulness; emotions, and elimination and retention.

• Co-morbidities of other presenting diseases and conditions of the individual;

• The effect of co-existing medication on the body;

• The signs and symptoms which present on the face and in the body, and

• The effect of the tissue salt on the body;

• The effect of the aggravating and relieving factors that the tissue salts have on

the body.

The treatment protocol would therefore need to consider both the active and the passive qualities of each respective tissue salt, to ascertain whether the tissue salt only affects the active or passive quality, or both qualities jointly. It is more than likely that each tissue salt has more than one quality.

Active qualities are heat and coldness, and passive qualities are dryness and moistness. The quality of heat will have an opposite effect to that of cold, and likewise with that of dry and moist.

Everything in nature has opposites: Spring and autumn, winter and summer, youth and middle age, hot and cold, dry and moist etc.

Opposing qualities cannot exist together, as nothing can be positive and negative, hot and cold, moist and dry, etc. at the same time.

All the qualities interact with each other so that one active quality combines with one passive quality to form a compound quality, which is a mixture of qualities, that are not in opposition to one another, for example: hot and moist, cold and moist, cold and dry, and hot and dry.

The difficulties in assigning a particular quality to a disease or condition are establishing its cause, as a condition may be as the result of different causes, for example: vertigo may be caused by anaemia, hypotension, ear problems, head injury etc., each of which have different qualities.

Regardless of whether or not one assigns one or more qualities to a particular tissue salt, it is prudent to consider that opposite qualities will counteract the excess of the qualities of the conditions concerned.

In order to produce a workable document, with no ambiguities, which is easy to comprehend and utilise, it has been decided to allocate the predominant qualities of the respective diseases or conditions as the primary focus, and where applicable, subdominant qualities.

I Have Never Met You

I Have Never Met You

Came across this on Youtube and just had to post it...It pretty much speaks for itself.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have never met you, we will probably never meet. But you've found my comment, among all these thousands. If you are seeing this comment then take this as your sign that things will get better, that things will be alright, that you can get through this. Whatever troubles bring you here, or if you're simply here for the sake of relaxing, remember that you are important, you are valid, and that you have a right to be here. You are braver and stronger than you think. You're still here, trying to make things better and to live a better life. So whatever is keeping you up at night, it is not stronger than you. You can get through this. I don't know you, you can dismiss this as the meaningless words of a stranger, or you can believe me. Whatever you chose, I believe in you.

Homeopathy 101 - A Beginners Guide - Tissue Salts

Homeopathy 101 - A Beginners Guide - Tissue Salts

----------------------------------------------------------------------

According to German Doctor, W.H. Schuessler (c1800’s) our body is made up of water, organic compounds (the bulk of our physical body) and inorganic substances or minerals. It’s the inorganic mineral elements that are needed to activate other substances replace continually decaying cells of the body. Small, minute quantities of these inorganic active minerals are carried to all parts of the body in the blood, and if the blood lacks the necessary quantities of these minerals, the cell rebuilding process is disturbed and ill health can occur. This principle of science was termed Biochemistry - the chemistry of living tissues.

In 1821 Dr Schuessler studied the function of what he considered the body’s principal inorganic micronutrients and discovered that there are 12 mineral compounds necessary for optimal health. He called these compounds Tissue Salts and determined that they had a catalytic effect on the body’s biochemistry.

DR SCHUESSLER ALSO DEVELOPED FIVE PRINCIPLES FOR HEALING.

1) Disease does not occur if cell metabolism is normal

2) Cell metabolism is in turn normal if cell nutrition is adequate

3) Nutritional substances are either of an organic or inorganic nature where the body is concerned

4) The ability of the body cells to assimilate and to excrete and further to utilize nutritional material is impaired if there is a deficiency in the inorganic mineral (tissue salt) constituent of cellular tissues

5) Adequate cell nutrition may be restored and cellular metabolism normalized by supplying the required tissue salts to the organism in a finely divided assimilable form.

He also described the type of symptoms which may be presented when there was a deficiency of each tissue salt, and was able to determine which tissue salt to prescribe. By re-establishing the biochemical balance, common complaints such as colds and flu, gastro-intestinal problems, skin disorders, slow healing wounds, eye and ear infections, to name just a few, can be dealt with effectively and safely.

These twelve biochemical remedies are prepared homoeopathically through titration or dilution - one part pure mineral salt is added to nine parts lactose (the sugar present in milk). One part of this mix is then added to nine parts of lactose and it becomes what we term 2X potency. The solution is further diluted so that it becomes 6X and this is the substance which is readily absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the lining of our mouths. Tissue salts are readily available in “tablet” form to be dissolved in the mouth. This ensures that the remedy can quickly restore the balance of the body’s biochemistry.

In addition to their many health benefits, cell salts are an ideal treatment if you are concerned about digestive complications. Cell salts are taken in pellet form and allowed to dissolve beneath the tongue, the salts are immediately absorbed. Cell salts do not require any further digestive breakdown, meaning they are safe for individuals who suffer frequent stomach upset or indigestion. Furthermore, there is no risk of overdosing. Too much of certain minerals can lead to gastrointestinal complications, such as constipation or diarrhea. This is a common problem with mineral supplements. Because cell salts are administered at homeopathic potency, as long as you follow the directions for proper usage, you cannot take too much.

“Even with a well balance diet, rich in vitamins, mineral and trace elements, the body sometimes fails to assimilate theses substances. In such circumstances, the tissue salt in it’s potentised state is able top “bridge the gap” and restore the molecular imbalance that may be impeding the nutritional process….the body should then be able to obtain all the nutrients it needs from the foods eaten…from the digestive process. Tissue salts, however require no breakdown and are immediately assimilated, the key to nutritional biochemistry”- J. Jacka (2008).

TISSUE SALTS ARE IMPORTANT TO OUR HEALTH BECAUSE:

A proper mineral balance is necessary for normal cell function and the maintenance of good health.

Giving the cells the essential nutrients (mineral salts) they lack, can restore health.

When our blood is lacking the necessary nutrients, cellar activity declines and our bodies become prone to illness.

Minerals are basic building blocks of the body

Vitamins are often useless without the presence of associated minerals

Well nutrition can be revitalised by supplying the deficient mineral salt in a readily assimilated form

Tissue Salts are vital constituents of the body

Tissue salts are “vital cell foods”, they can be taken at any time, even during pregnancy, infancy and childhood.

Tissue Salts are non-toxic and non-addictive

They are completely safe, producing no side effects

They can be used by infants and pregnant women

They can be safely used alongside prescriptive medicines.

Tissue salts most commonly come in the form of a lactose-calcium based tablet. They can also come as an oral spray (good if you’re lactose intolerant). Tissue salts are chewed and dissolved.

There are 12 basic tissue salts that can be used on their own, or in recommended combinations, to treat a very wide variety of ailments.

Number 1: Calc fluor - Calcium Fluoride - Tissue elasticity restorer

Number 2: Calc phos - Calcium Phosphate - Cell restorer

Number 3: Calc sulf - Calcium Sulphate - Blood purifier, purulent agent

Number 4: Ferr phos - Phosphate of Iron - Anti-inflammatory

Number 5: Kali mur - Potassium Chloride - Detoxifying agent

Number 6: Kali phos - Potassium Phosphate - Nerve and brain cell agent

Number 7: Kali sulf - Potassium Sulphate - Metabolism, pancreas conditioner

Number 8: Mag phos - Magnesium Phosphate - Pain and cramp killer

Number 9: Nat mur -  Sodium Chloride - Water distributor

Number 10: Nat phos - Sodium Phospahte - Acidity neutraliser

Number 11: Nat sulf - Sodium Sulphate - Liver cleanser

Number 12: Silicea - Silicic Oxide - Skin and connective tissue conditioner

Cell salts are generally taken 4 times a day, 3-4 tablets. The probability is much greater for success if you keep taking them frequently as suggested instead of sporadically. For acute symptoms (sudden onset with more or less severity of symptoms), you can take 1 tablet every few minutes or up to every hour. The good thing is, you can be very flexible depending on the situation. It is best to stay on the Tissue Salts for at least 1 – 3 months and visit your health professional who will further guide you to your unique needs.

Adults: 1 tablet, 4 times a day or 4 sprays, 4 timers a day

Children: 1/2 tablet 4 times a day or 2 sprays 4 times a day

Infants: 1/4 tablet, 4 times a day or 1 spray 4 times a day

Tablets can be dissolved in water, which makes it easy to repeat doses or to give to children or the elderly. Dissolve 4 tablets in 4-8 ounces of water and stir vigorously. You can take a teaspoon at a time as a dose, stirring vigorously before each dose, or just sip as needed. Mag phos works best taken in ‘warm water’ if there is easy access.

More info on the 12 tissue salts

#1 Calc fluor

Calcium fluoride is particularly abundant in the bones and teeth, blood vessel walls, muscles and connective tissue. This tissue salt strengthens weak, brittle bones and poor teeth enamel, and may heal bony outgrowths such as heel spurs. Calc fluor is also widely used to restore tissue elasticity when it is lax or overly stiff. It is recommended for skin cracks and fissures, and when the skin becomes thick and hard. It may help hernia pains and strained or hardened tendons. Calc fluor can help haemorrhoids and varicose veins. Wet weather may make symptoms worse, while warmth and massage can improve symptoms.

#2 Calc phos

Calc phos is important for the skeletal system, teeth and connective tissues. As a mineral compound, calcium phosphate constitutes over half of your bone structure. As a tissue salt, it is naturally helpful in healing fractures, for conditions relating to the digestive tract and for coldness and numbness from poor circulation.

Calc phos is often beneficial for anaemia as well as for poor growth and development in children. It can promote the development of teeth and help with teething problems or decaying teeth. It can also be used to speed recovery when convalescence from illness is delayed. Pains related to Calc phos tend to be worse at night.

#3 Calc sulph

Calc sulph is a blood purifier that is often useful with acne, abscesses, ulcers and wounds that have become infected. Calc sulph closes and clears up an infection. This remedy is indicated for infections that are slow to heal, and when the discharges are yellow, thick and possibly bloody. Calc sulph can prevent an oncoming cold or sore throat.

#4 Ferr phos

Consider this tissue salt in the first stage of any inflammation where the skin or mucous membrane is red, painful and swollen. Ferr phos can relieve fevers, especially where the skin is hot and dry and the cheeks flushed. Typically, there will be thirst. The head may be congested and throbbing. Ferr phos is indicated with painful sore throats, laryngitis, earaches and similar inflammatory conditions in the beginning stages. It is also useful immediately following an injury to help stop the blood flow if there is bleeding, or to reduce swelling, heat, redness and pain. With sprains or strains, the pains are worsened by movement; elevate the limb and apply a cold compress. Ferr phos is an oxygen supplier to the cells, so it is useful for anaemic conditions, particularly when they occur as a result of heavy bleeding.

#5 Kali mur

Kali mur should be considered with weak and sluggish conditions. It acts as a blood purifier when infections discharge a thick, white or gray substance. It is useful in skin eruptions and also in infections after the initial inflammatory stage. In injuries where swelling occurs, use Kali mur during the initial swelling phase. Kali mur is useful for infections such as tonsillitis, head colds and earaches when the swelling is marked. With infectious bronchitis, the phlegm is thick and may cause rattling and wheezing. Poor digestion, when it develops after eating rich or fatty foods, also benefits from Kali mur. The tongue is typically coated white and the stools may be lighter in colour, indicating sluggishness of the liver.

#6 Kali phos

This tissue salt is particularly suited to conditions relating to the nerves. It is beneficial for anxiety and nervousness, for irritability from frayed nerves, or for poor memory, typically accompanied by fatigue. Kali phos will relieve insomnia, asthma, headaches and indigestion if they are triggered by a temporary attack of nervous tension. This tissue salt is also useful for treating physical conditions relating to the nerves, including shingles and skin conditions where there is itching and a crawling feeling. Nerve pains or spasms, and cramps not relieved by Mag phos, are often helped by Kali phos.

#7 Kali sulph

Kali sulph helps with conditions of the skin and mucous membranes. These skin conditions typically develop a discharge which is yellow and sticky or watery, common in the later stages of an infection. The tongue may be covered with a slimy, yellow coating. Crusty or scaling skin problems also benefit from this remedy. Diarrhoea and sinus infections past the initial stages with a slimy, yellow quality are typical uses for Kali sulph. Digestive complaints and colic with gas or shifting pains may be helped by this tissue salt. Typically, the conditions are better in cool, open air, and worse in warm, stuffy rooms. Kali sulph is a remedy for cramps not relieved by Mag phos, especially when some of the above symptoms are also present.

#8 Mag phos

Mag phos is the chief tissue salt to consider for cramps and spasms in the muscles or nerves. Nerve pains are typically sharp and may shoot along the nerve. This tissue salt quickly relieves cramping pains and colic that are improved by warmth, pressure and doubling over. Cold drafts and cold water tend to worsen the condition. Tension headaches and fitful, spasmodic coughs often benefit from Mag phos. In the acute stages, this tissue salt acts more quickly when taken dissolved in some hot water.

#9 Nat mur

This tissue salt’s main function is to properly distribute body fluids. If excess dryness or water retention occurs, this indicates a need for Nat mur. Water-filled blisters, insect bites, hives that itch, and dry eczema are skin conditions this tissue salt often heals. Colds and hay fevers with watery mucus and sneezing, usually accompanied by a loss of smell and taste, also indicate Nat mur. Other problems helped by this tissue salt are constipation, digestive complaints, and headaches that are worse in the morning and from the sun. Often a craving for salt develops, and the spirits tend to be low. Sometimes, there is an associated feeling of hopelessness

#10 Nat phos

Nat phos is an acid-neutralising tissue salt. It is useful for an acidic stomach which causes nausea, gas, sour belching or a thick, white coating on the tongue. Nat phos is a useful remedy for morning sickness or motion sickness, when the vomiting is sour. Since overacidity is also the source of many arthritic complaints (including gout), Nat phos is often helpful. This tissue salt also regulates bile production, and can be used for jaundice, gall-bladder colic and indigestion from rich or fatty foods.

#11 Nat sulph

Nat sulph regulates the distribution of water and the flow of bile. This tissue salt is beneficial for the liver, pancreas, intestines and kidneys. Jaundice, bitter belching and dark-coloured, greenish stools and diarrhoea all suggest a need for this tissue salt. The coating on the tongue is typically greenish brown. Nat sulph is often beneficial for flus and colds and is another remedy for morning sickness, when there is a bitter taste in the mouth. In the respiratory system, this tissue salt should be considered for asthma brought on by humidity. The effects of head injuries may be remedied by Nat sulph.

#12 Silicea

Silicea is well known as a tissue salt to ripen infections and eliminate them through the surface. It acts as a blood cleanser and is useful in abscesses, tonsillitis, sties and other infections to promote the formation of pus when an outlet is available. The tissue salt Silicea supports the bone structure and connective tissues. When it is lacking, the nails, hair and bones may become weak. Weakness and poor stamina may be evident in other parts of the body, so this tissue salt should be considered if these problems fail to resolve and if injuries heal poorly. It can also be used for absent-mindedness and weak memory. Consider Silicea for neuralgia when Mag phos fails. Excessive or suppressed perspiration can also be restored to normal with this tissue salt.

Neville in a Nutshell

Neville in a Nutshell

Man attracts what he is. The art of life is to sustain the feeling of the wish fulfilled and let things come to you, not to go after them or think they flee away.

Neville Goddard

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Neville says imagine, and imagine intensely right before you sleep until your imagination comes into past, he is teaching you how to re-program your subconscious mind so it starts to change your beliefs. And you start with little manifestations and build up your faith that way.

Neville Goddard's Visualization Technique:

Construct an Imaginal Scene. ...

Write Your Happy Ending. ...

Enter a Meditative State. ...

Imagine Your Desire in First Person. ...

Feel it with All Your Senses. ...

Impress Your Subconscious Mind. ...

Drop It and Let the Seed Grow.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Neville Goddard took a very simple approach to letting go. Neville didn't need to obsess over the things he wanted to manifest. He didn't constantly visualize or think about what he wanted to create. For Neville, letting go was as easy as “assuming the state of the wish fulfilled.”

Creation Is Finished

Creation Is Finished

“I AM the beginning and the end, there is nothing to come that has not been, and is.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Blake saw all possible human situations as “already-made” states. He saw every aspect, every plot and drama as already worked out as “mere possibilities” as long as we are not in them, but as overpowering realities when we are in them. He described these states as “Sculptures of Los’s Halls”.

Distinguish therefore states from Individuals in those States. States change but Individual Identities never change nor cease… The Imagination is not a State.

Said Blake,

It is the Human Existence itself. Affection or Love becomes a State when divided from imagination.

Just how important this is to remember is almost impossible to say, but the moment the individual realizes this for the first time is the most momentous in his life, and to be encouraged to feel this is the highest form of encouragement it is possible to give.

This truth is common to all men, but the consciousness of it, and much more, the self-consciousness of it, is another matter.

The day I realized this great truth, that everything in my world is a manifestation of the mental activity which goes on within me, and that the conditions and circumstances of my life only reflect the state of consciousness with which I am fused, is the most momentous in my life. But the experience that brought me to this certainty is so remote from ordinary existence, I have long hesitated to tell it, for my reason refused to admit the conclusions to which the experience impelled me. Nevertheless, this experience revealed to me that I am supreme within the circle of my own state of consciousness and that it is the state with which I am identified that determines what I experience. Therefore it should be shared with all, for to know this is to become free from the world’s greatest tyranny, the belief in a second cause.

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

Blessed are they whose imagination has been so purged of the beliefs in second causes they know that imagination is all, and all is imagination.

One day I quietly slipped from my apartment in New York City into some remote yesteryear’s countryside. As I entered the dining room of a large inn, I became fully conscious. I knew that my physical body was immobilized on my bed back in New York. Yet here I was as awake and as conscious as I have ever been. I intuitively knew that if I could stop the activity of my mind, everything before me would freeze. No sooner was the thought born than the urge to try it possessed me. I felt my head tighten, then thicken to a stillness. My attention concentrated into a crystal-clear focus, and the waitress walking, walked not. And I looked through the window and the leaves falling, fell not. And the family of four eating, ate not. And they lifting the food, lifted it not. Then my attention relaxed, the tightness eased, and of a sudden all moved onward in their course. The leaves fell, the waitress walked and the family ate. Then I understood Blake’s vision of the “Sculptures of Los’s Halls”.

“I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labor.”

Creation is finished.

“I AM the beginning and the end, there is nothing to come that has not been, and is.”

The world of creation is finished and its original is within us. We saw it before we set forth, and have since been trying to remember it and to activate sections of it. There are infinite views of it. Our task is to get the right view and by determined direction of our attention make it pass in procession before the inner eye. If we assemble the right sequence and experience it in imagination until it has the tone of reality, then we consciously create circumstances. This inner procession is the activity of imagination that must be consciously directed. We, by a series of mental transformations, become aware of increasing portions of that which already is, and by matching our own mental activity to that portion of creation which we desire to experience, we activate it, resurrect it, and give it life.

This experience of mine not only shows the world as a manifestation of the mental activity of the individual observer, but it also reveals our course of time as jumps of attention between eternal moments. An infinite abyss separates any two moments of ours. We, by the movements of our attention, give life to the “Sculptures of Los’s Halls”.

Think of the world as containing an infinite number of states of consciousness from which it could be viewed. Think of these states as rooms or mansions in the House of God, and like the rooms of any house, they are fixed relative to one another. But think of yourself, the Real Self, the Imaginative You, as the living, moving occupant of God’s House. Each room contains some of Los’s Sculptures, with infinite plots and dramas and situations already worked out but not activated. They are activated as soon as Human Imagination enters and fuses with them. Each represents certain mental and emotional activities. To enter a state, man must consent to the ideas and feelings which it represents.

These states represent an infinite number of possible mental transformations which man can experience. To move into another state or mansion necessitates a change of beliefsAll that you could ever desire is already present and only waits to be matched by your beliefs. But it must be matched, for that is the necessary condition by which alone it can be activated and objectified. Matching the beliefs of a state is the seeking that finds, the knocking to which it is opened, the asking that receives. Go in and possess the land.

The moment man matches the beliefs of any state, he fuses with it, and this union results in the activation and projection of its plots, plans, dramas, and situations. It becomes the individual’s home from which he views the world. It is his workshop, and, if he is observant, he will see outer reality shaping itself upon the model of his… Imagination.

It is for this purpose of training us in image-making that we were made subject to the limitations of the senses and clothed in bodies of flesh. It is the awakening of the imagination, the returning of His Son, that our Father waits for.

“The creature was made subject to vanity not willingly, but by reason of him who subjected it.”

But the victory of the Son, the return of the prodigal, assures us that

"the creature shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the Sons [children] of God.”

We were subjected to this biological experience because no one can know of imagination who has not been subjected to the vanities and limitations of the flesh, who has not taken his share of Sonship and gone prodigal, who has not experimented and tasted this cup of experience; and confusion will continue until man awakes and a fundamentally imaginative view of life has been reestablished and acknowledged as basic.

“I should preach… the unsearchable riches of Christ and make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, Who created all things by Jesus Christ.”

Bear in mind that Christ in you is your imagination.

As the appearance of our world is determined by the particular state with which we are fused, so may we determine our fate as individuals by fusing our imaginations with ideals we seek to realize. On the distinction between our states of consciousness depends the distinction between the circumstances and conditions of our lives. Man, who is free in his choice of state, often cries out to be saved from the state of his choice.

“And ye shall cry out in that day, because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day. Nevertheless, the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us.”

Choose wisely the state that you will serve. All states are lifeless until imagination fuses with them.

“All things when they are admitted are made manifest by the light: for everything that is made manifest is light,”

and

“Ye are the light of the world,”

by which those ideas to which you have consented are made manifest.

Hold fast to your ideal. Nothing can take it from you but your imagination. Don’t think of your ideal, think from it. It is only the ideals from which you think that are ever realized.

“Man lives not by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”

and “the mouth of God”  is the mind of man.

Become a drinker and an eater of the ideals you wish to realize. Have a set, definite aim or your mind will wander, and wandering it eats every negative suggestion. If you live right mentally, everything else will be right. By a change of mental diet, you can alter the course of observed events. But unless there is a change of mental diet, your personal history remains the same.

You illuminate or darken your life by the ideas to which you consent. Nothing is more important to you than the ideas on which you feed. And you feed on the ideas from which you think. If you find the world unchanged, it is a sure sign that you are wanting in fidelity to the new mental diet, which you neglect in order to condemn your environment. You are in need of a new and sustained attitude.

You can be anything you please if you will make the conception habitual, for any idea which excludes all others from the field of attention discharges in action. The ideas and moods to which you constantly return define the state with which you are fused. Therefore train yourself to occupy more frequently the feeling of your wish fulfilled. This is creative magic. It is the way to work toward fusion with the desired state.

If you would assume the feeling of your wish fulfilled more frequently, you would be master of your fate, but unfortunately you shut out your assumption for all but the occasional hour. Practice making real to yourself the feeling of the wish fulfilled. After you have assumed the feeling of the wish fulfilled, do not close the experience as you would a book, but carry it around like a fragrant odor.

Instead of being completely forgotten, let it remain in the atmosphere communicating its influence automatically to your actions and reactions. A mood, often repeated, gains a momentum that is hard to break or check. So be careful of the feelings you entertain. Habitual moods reveal the state with which you are fused.

It is always possible to pass from thinking of the end you desire to realize, to thinking from the end. But the crucial matter is thinking from the end, for thinking from means unification or fusion with the idea: whereas in thinking of the end, there is always subject and object . . the thinking individual and the thing thought. You must imagine yourself into the state of your wish fulfilled, in your love for that state, and in so doing, live and think from it and no more of it. You pass from thinking of to thinking from by centering your imagination in the feeling of the wish fulfilled.

Awakened Imagination,

The Coin of Heaven

The Coin of Heaven

“Does a firm persuasion that a thing is so, make it so?”And the prophet replied, “All poets believe that it does. And in ages of imagination, this firm persuasion removed mountains: but many are not capable of a firm persuasion of anything.”

Blake

“Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Persuasion is an inner effort of intense attention. To listen attentively as though you heard is to evoke, to activate. By listening, you can hear what you want to hear and persuade those beyond the range of the outer ear. Speak it inwardly in your imagination only. Make your inner conversation match your fulfilled desire. What you desire to hear without, you must hear within. Embrace the without within and become one who hears only that which implies the fulfillment of his desire, and all the external happenings in the world will become a bridge leading to the objective realization of your desire.

Your inner speech is perpetually written all around you in happenings. Learn to relate these happenings to your inner speech and you will become self-taught. By inner speech is meant those mental conversations which you carry on with yourself. They may be inaudible when you are awake because of the noise and distractions of the outer world of becoming, but they are quite audible in deep meditation and dream. But whether they be audible or inaudible, you are their author and fashion your world in their  likeness.

“There is a God in heaven [and heaven is within you] that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these.”

Inner speech from premises of fulfilled desire is the way to create an intelligible world for yourself. Observe your inner speech for it is the cause of future action. Inner speech reveals the state of consciousness from which you view the world. Make your inner speech match your fulfilled desire, for your inner speech is manifested all around you in happenings.

“If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven by fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!”

The whole manifested world goes to show us what use we have made of the Word . . Inner Speech. An uncritical observation of our inner talking will reveal to us the ideas from which we view the world. Inner talking mirrors our imagination, and our imagination mirrors the state with which it is fused. If the state with which we are fused is the cause of the phenomenon of our life, then we are relieved of the burden of wondering what to do, for we have no alternative but to identify ourselves with our aim, and inasmuch as the state with which we are identified mirrors itself in our inner speech, then to change the state with which we are fused, we must first change our inner talking. It is our inner conversations which make tomorrow’s facts.

“Put off the former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt… and be renewed in the spirit of your mind… put on the new man, which is created in righteousness.”

Our minds, like our stomachs, are whetted by change of food.

Quintillian

Stop all of the old mechanical negative inner talking and start a new positive and constructive inner speech from premises of fulfilled desire. Inner talking is the beginning, the sowing of the seeds of future action. To determine the action, you must consciously initiate and control your inner talking. Construct a sentence which implies the fulfillment of your aim, such as “I have a large, steady, dependable income, consistent with integrity and mutual benefit”, or “I AM happily married”, “I AM wanted”, “I AM contributing to the good of the world”, and repeat such a sentence over and over until you are inwardly affected by it. Our inner speech represents in various ways the world we live in.

“In the beginning was the Word.”

That which ye sow ye reap. See yonder fields! The sesamum was sesamum, the corn was corn. The Silence and the Darkness knew! So is a man’s fate born.

Ends run true to origins.

Those that go searching for love only make manifest their own lovelessness. And the loveless never find love, only the loving find love, and they never have to seek for it.

D. H. Lawrence

Man attracts what he is. The art of life is to sustain the feeling of the wish fulfilled and let things come to you, not to go after them or think they flee away.

Observe your inner talking and remember your aim. Do they match? Does your inner talking match what you would say audibly had you achieved your goal? The individual’s inner speech and actions attract the conditions of his life. Through uncritical self-observation of your inner talking you find where you are in the inner world, and where you are in the inner world is what you are in the outer world. You put on the new man whenever ideals and inner speech match. In this way alone can the new man be born.

Inner talking matures in the dark. From the dark it issues into the light. The right inner speech is the speech that would be yours were you to realize your ideal. In other words, it is the speech of fulfilled desire.

“I AM that.”

There are two gifts which God has bestowed upon man alone, and on no other mortal creature. These two are mind and speech; and the gift of mind and speech is equivalent to that of immortality. If a man uses these two gifts rightly, he will differ in nothing from the immortals… and when he quits the body, mind and speech will be his guides, and by them he will be brought into the troop of the gods and the souls that have attained to bliss.

Hermetica, Walter Scott’s translation

The circumstances and conditions of life are out pictured inner talking, solidified sound. Inner speech calls events into existence. In every event, is the creative sound that is its life and being. All that a man believes and consents to as true reveals itself in his inner speech. It is his Word, his life. Try to notice what you are saying in yourself at this moment, to what thoughts and feelings you are consenting. They will be perfectly woven into your tapestry of life. To change your life, you must change your inner talking, for “life”, said Hermes, “is the union of Word and Mind”. When imagination matches your inner speech to fulfilled desire, there will then be a straight path in yourself from within out, and the without will instantly reflect the within for you, and you will know reality is only actualized inner talking.

“Receive with meekness the inborn Word which is able to save your souls.”

Every stage of man’s progress is made by the conscious exercise of his imagination matching his inner speech to his fulfilled desire. Because man does not perfectly match them, the results are uncertain, while they might be perfectly certain. Persistent assumption of the wish fulfilled is the means of fulfilling the intention. As we control our inner talking, matching it to our fulfilled desires, we can lay aside all other processes. Then we simply act by clear imagination and intention. We imagine the wish fulfilled and carry on mental conversations from that premise.

Through controlled inner talking from premises of fulfilled desire, seeming miracles are performed. The future becomes the present and reveals itself in our inner speech. To be held by the inner speech of fulfilled desire is to be safely anchored in life. Our lives may seem to be broken by events, but they are never broken so long as we retain the inner speech of fulfilled desire. All happiness depends on the active voluntary use of imagination to construct and inwardly affirm that we are what we want to be. We match ourselves to our ideals by constantly remembering our aim and identifying ourselves with it. We fuse with our aims by frequently occupying the feeling of our wish fulfilled. It is the frequency, the habitual occupancy, that is the secret of success. The oftener we do it, the more natural it is. Fancy assembles. Continuous imagination fuses.

It is possible to resolve every situation by the proper use of imagination. Our task is to get the right sentence, the one which implies that our desire is realized, and fire the imagination with it. All this is intimately connected with the mystery of “the still small voice”.

Inner talking reveals the activities of imagination, activities which are the causes of the circumstances of life. As a rule, man is totally unaware of his inner talking and therefore sees himself not as the cause but the victim of circumstance. To consciously create circumstance, man must consciously direct his inner speech, matching “the still small voice” to his fulfilled desires.

“He calls things not seen as though they were.”

Right inner speech is essential. It is the greatest of the arts. It is the way out of limitation into freedom. Ignorance of this art has made the world a battlefield and penitentiary where blood and sweat alone are expected, when it should be a place of marveling and wondering. Right inner talking is the first step to becoming what you want to be.

Speech is an image of mind, and mind is an image of God.

Hermetica, Scott translation

On the morning of April 12, 1953, my wife was awakened by the sound of a great voice of authority speaking within her and saying, “You must stop spending your thoughts, time, and money. Everything in life must be an investment.”

To spend is to waste, to squander, to layout without return. To invest is to layout for a purpose from which a profit is expected. This revelation of my wife is about the importance of the moment. It is about the transformation of the moment. What we desire does not lie in the future but in ourselves at this very moment. At any moment in our lives, we are faced with an infinite choice: “what we are and what we want to be”. And what we want to be is already existent, but to realize it we must match our inner speech and actions to it.

“If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven.”

It is only what is done now that counts. The present moment does not recede into the past. It advances into the future to confront us, spent or invested. Thought is the coin of heaven. Money is its earthly symbol. Every moment must be invested, and our inner talking reveals whether we are spending or investing. Be more interested in what you are inwardly “saying now” than what you “have said” by choosing wisely what you think and what you feel now.

Any time we feel misunderstood, misused, neglected, suspicious, afraid, we are spending our thoughts and wasting our time. Whenever we assume the feeling of being what we want to be, we are investing. We cannot abandon the moment to negative inner talking and expect to retain command of life. Before us go the results of all that seemingly is behind. Not gone is the last moment . . but oncoming.

“My word shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

The circumstances of life are the muffled utterances of the inner talking that made them . . the word made visible.

“The Word”, said Hermes, “is Son, and the Mind is Father of the Word. They are not separate one from the other; for life is the union of Word and Mind.”

“He willed us forth from Himself by the Word of Truth.”

Let us

"be imitators of God as dear children”

And use our inner speech wisely to mold an outer world in harmony with our ideal.

“The Lord spake by me, and His Word was in my tongue.”

The mouth of God is the mind of man. Feed God only the best.

“Whatsoever things are of good report… think on these things.”

The present moment is always precisely right for an investment, to inwardly speak the right word.

"The word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, that you may do it. See, I have set before you this day life and good, death and evil, blessings and cursings. Choose life.”

You choose life and good and blessings by being that which you choose. Like is known to like alone. Make your inner speech bless and give good reports. Man’s ignorance of the future is the result of his ignorance of his inner talking. His inner talking mirrors his imagination, and his imagination is a government in which the opposition never comes into power.

If the reader asks, “What if the inner speech remains subjective and is unable to find an object for its love?”, the answer is: it will not remain subjective, for the very simple reason that inner speech is always objectifying itself. What frustrates and festers and becomes the disease that afflicts humanity is man’s ignorance of the art of matching inner words to fulfilled desire. Inner speech mirrors imagination, and imagination is Christ.

Alter your inner speech, and your perceptual world changes. Whenever inner speech and desire are in conflict, inner speech invariably wins. Because inner speech objectifies itself, it is easy to see that if it matches desire, desire will be objectively realized. Were this not so, I would say with Blake,

“Sooner murder an infant in its cradle  than nurse unacted desires.”

But I know from experience,

“The tongue… setteth on fire the course of nature.”
