Mind and Speech, Two

So you read something, and actually inwardly you are repeating the words. Well now, the whole thing is in your imagination. That is all it was in him, only his imagination. That was God’s gift.  It is translated in the Hermetica as “Mind.” “And God has given to man, and to man alone, two gifts, and to no other mortal creature. The gifts are Mind and Speech; and these are like the gifts of Immortality, and by these gifts he does not differ in any respect from the Immortals. If he uses them wisely,” — the whole world is his. Are we not told that: “The world was created by the Word of God;” and “things that are seen were made out of things that are not seen?”

So here, out of the nowhere, we create by inner speech through the use of what? Call it “mind” if you will. I like the word “imagination.” To me, it inflames me. When I imagine a state — any state, if I can only persuade myself of the reality of the state imagined, that’s the important thing; to believe in the reality of the state imagined. But to know what to do is not the same as doing it

Let me now make it quite clear: You have the gift. You can speak. Even if you were dumb, you can still speak — inwardly you speak, and you form these little speech movements within yourself. Make them conform to your wish fulfilled.

Whether you be a Frenchman or an American or any other nationality, you have speech and you have a mind. Instead of accepting what you have already done with that gift, you simply ignore it. You brought it into being. All this is solidified speech — the whole vast manifested world.

I would say to them, “Do you not know what you are doing to yourself?” “Yes, but just give me one little moment because I am so enjoying the feeling of getting even with them.” You “get even” with no one. There is no one else in the world. As you are told: “I am the Lord, and beside Me there is no god.” Read it in the 45th chapter of the Book of Isaiah, “I am the Lord, and beside Me there is no god.” “Now you want the Word?” He said, “The Word is very near unto you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, that you can do it. See, I set before you this day life and good, blessings and curses, death and evil. Choose life, that you and your descendants may live.”

The whole thing is before you. You can choose death if you want it, because the Word is on your tongue, it is in your mouth, it is in your heart. And you can do it now. You don’t have to ask who will go up to Heaven and bring it down for me, or go into the depths and bring it up for me. It is now nearer than you know; in your mouth and in your heart, that you can do it now. Well what would you do now? What sentence would imply that you are now what you would like to be?

You know what to do. And I say, it’s not knowing what to do; it is the doing it. Someone got the most marvelous revelation. I was there the morning that it happened. “Stop spending your thoughts, your time and your money. Everything in life must be an investment,” And I so loved it, I incorporated that thought in the chapter, “The Coin of Heaven,” in my book, “Awakened Imagination.” She would be the first to confess, although it came through her, and it was her revelation from God to her, — shared with me, and I shared it through the written form with those who read it in the book, — but she is the first to confess she never applied it.

Mind and Speech

The whole manifested world goes to show us what use we have made of God’s gift. Receiving a gift does not mean that we are going to use it wisely, but we have the gift. Everyone has the gift; and the world simply reflects the use of that gift.

So you and I have been given a gift. To what use have we put it? In a book written in the First Century, written at the time of our Gospel, — it’s called the Hermetica, and this is a translation by Walter Scott.

It is a wonderful series of four volumes; and in this he says: “There are two gifts that God has given to man alone, and to no other mortal creature, and these two gifts are Mind and Speech. And the gifts of Mind and Speech are essential and identical with Immortality. If they are used rightly, man will not differ in any respect from the immortals; and when he quits the body, these two will be his guides and they will lead him into the troop of the gods and. to the souls that have attained to bliss.”

Now he is not speaking of any outer speech, for you and I have had this experience, — I know I have many times. You have gone to a party, and many people you do not know, you meet them and the usual greetings: “Nice to know you,” “What a joy to know you,” “Pleased to meet you,” and the usual clichés; and then you have drinks and your little hors d’oeuvre, and then the party breaks up and they all separate. And you hear someone say, “What a creep,” “What a bore”; yet they were so pleased to meet them: “What a joy to know you.” The outer words did not conform whatsoever with what they were really thinking on the inside. And God sees, not the outer man; He sees the inner Man.

It’s the inner speech that is frozen in the world round about us. This whole vast world is but “frozen” inner speech. What are we saying on the inside?

If one could only control these inner conversations morning, noon and night, and carry them right into the dream world, he would know what world he is creating. Stop for one moment and ask yourself, what am I thinking now? You are carrying on a little tiny inner speech at every moment of time. You may be in the presence of someone that the world thinks important, but you don’t, and inwardly you are saying, “But only God hears it.” That’s what you are actually saying. Outwardly you are pleased to meet him, and you are flattered with the contact; but inwardly, what are you saying?

This is what I ask everyone to observe. Observe what you are actually doing on the inside, for that is what God sees; and what you are doing on the inside, you are doing in little tiny speech movements, and they are crystallizing in the manifested world round about you. We all would be everything we want to be in this world. But we find it more difficult to do it than to know what to do. So I could tell you from now until the ends of time, but only practice will do it — just practice.

The times in which you live call for the best of your capabilities to emerge, and embracing a personal belief in your inherent self-worth is an excellent investment of your time and energy. Happiness and peace of mind are the hallmarks of real empowerment, and they are present when you are in balance with your values and intuition. As the energy continues to accelerate, issues will only grow in complexity in whatever arenas of life you have avoided your responsibilities. To prepare yourself for experiencing higher states of consciousness and greater perceptual awareness, you must visualize the type of world you want, and trust that you will meet it. Your imagination is the most powerful tool for creating, and when you focus your attention with clear conscious intent, you set an internal program into motion, one that will determine your experience of the outer world.

Cultural beliefs about the nature of reality rule your experience from the deepest and most ancient levels. Beliefs arise out of ideas about reality; these ideas are then passed on through time to evolve into facts, and these facts appear to define what you see because of what you were told. The ideas form a loop of energy that continues to create a super-fortified blueprint of reality supported by an immense contribution of energy from the mass consciousness. The result of this massive support, which is based on unquestioned cultural assumptions, determines the overall world structure that you currently encounter. The overall world structure is a framework of agreements that you operate within: it is not the only version of the world. Nature is flexible and alive with multidimensional possibilities, and your beliefs, decisions, and emotions play the decisive role in creating the version of the world reality you actually encounter.

You are in charge of the vital energy that sustains and connects you with the larger cosmic reality. When you abdicate and ignore your abilities to create your reality, essentially you turn your power over to be manoeuvred by others. The tendency to think that someone other than yourself is going to save you has been programmed and conditioned into humans. No one is going to save you: in order to flourish and thrive, you must be willing to take charge of your life. The feelings you experience are important keys toward understanding how you operate.

Clarity in thought, word, and deed is of utmost importance for creating the version of life that you want. In ancient times the power of words was known to be the art of old magic. Language is a powerful tool for directing and manifesting energy into form. We suggest that you purposely choose your words with care and certainty, know what you want, and establish clear positive intentions as to your purpose.

Given that you are highly telepathic, you can be influenced by the thoughts and activities of others, especially if you have poor boundaries and are confused about who you are. External suggestions and images, such as those from television and the media, program your subconscious and unconscious minds. If you are unaware of your thoughts, or have abdicated your choice to direct your thinking, then electronic methods can easily influence and control your mind. Your conscious mind sets the commands, and the subconscious mind is the processing center where the directives or beliefs are filtered and then carried out. Empowering your life begins when you have control of your thoughts. You then must decide what you want and proceed to attain it; otherwise your commands will have no conscious intent to direct the course of your life.

In order to understand and heal the insanity, instability, and seeming uncertainty of these troubled times, you must first learn to manage yourself. Learning to manage energy in the material world is one of the reasons you are here at this time. Your emotional intensity is the charge of power behind the frequency of your thoughts. How you feel about yourself and the world at large directly affects the functions and operating systems of your physical form.

Feelings are fuel for beliefs – especially feelings of excitement – and when you follow your feelings, you will always find your beliefs. When you feel good about yourself, your outer world will mirror this state of mind, and when you feel down-and-out and frustrated, the outer world also conforms. Limitations, frustrations, and blockages can be examined from a meaningful perspective. Accepting your part in creating your life situations – without blaming yourself or anyone else – and approaching your life with the attitude  that everything you encounter has a significant purpose will unblock the victim conditioning that has been prevalent for so long among humanity. Transmuting victimhood is a major step on the path of self-empowerment. However, those choosing to experience reality devoid of such emotional intelligence will increasingly find themselves in a world order where the significance of life is lost. Those who choose love – daring to feel the depths of being, accepting responsibility for their actions, and seeking a purpose in life – will find that the world of significant living will unfold its cleverly concealed presence.

You are imbued with consciousness, that is, the ability to be aware, yet this does not necessarily mean that you are consciously aware of all you create. Beliefs are tricky; essentially, they are agreements about reality that you accept and uphold without question. As you confront yourself and meet your beliefs, thoughts and feelings may peel off like layers of old paint, or you may well find yourself travelling through internal black holes and out the other side, journeying through parts of yourself you never knew existed. Your focused attention is a personal gold mine, and as you learn to value and use this inherent wealth, you can fortify yourself for journeys into both the inner and outer worlds. Where and how you spend your energy are exceedingly important in understanding how you create your life. Are you the captain of your attention or always just along for the ride?

Within this plane of reality, you inherit a set of beliefs from your genetic line, as well as a celestial and formative imprint of character from the position of the planets at your birth. You also have memories carried over from issues and events in simultaneous time. And then, of course, you are subjected to the cultural conditioning, from society, family, and religion, that influences you from birth and helps to define the nature of your personal reality. The information or beliefs that are foisted upon you do not represent the entire picture of reality; therefore, you often live your life on one avenue of existence, all the while missing out on a myriad of untold opportunities because accepting limiting beliefs is like wearing a straightjacket all of your life. Your innermost core beliefs determine the direction of your life; they are played out daily and distributed by way of your thoughts and attitudes. People who choose the avenue of fear do not see another fork in the road – their beliefs literally function as blinders, overshadowing and eliminating every other possible and probable option, path, or solution. Your beliefs condition and qualify the space that surrounds you, creating an electro-magnetic imprint that ultimately serves to attract all of your life experiences. Thoughts are real in that they have a life of their own once you create them.

There are many ways of looking at life, and how you interpret your place in the world depends on what you choose to believe. In order to empower your life, it is imperative that you understand your personal and collective beliefs. You are who you are, and you are where you are because of what you believe about yourself; no matter what you are experiencing, your beliefs form the underlying foundation to create these experiences. What are your beliefs? Where do your beliefs come from? Beliefs are usually about power: your power to create. Beliefs can reveal how you manage energy. Beliefs are decisions and agreements that you make about reality; they are an accumulation of invisible inner building blocks, formed from your interpretation of reality, that collect over time and from which you construct a concept of yourself in relationship to your perceived place in existence. Beliefs are the programs from which you have built your life experience. They reveal the way in which you personalize your choices and the conditions you apply for imprinting the vital-force energy used for manifesting your thoughts. When you take a good look at your life, you will see the unique creative results of your own internal programming.

Everyone has a bushel basketful of beliefs collected from many sources. Genetic inheritance, family proclivities, childhood experiences, social and cultural influences, and numerous impressions from other lifetimes arte among some of the contributors to the invisible bundle of beliefs that define your experience in 3-D reality. Beliefs are the thoughts that you hold, most often without question, about yourself and the world at large. These unnoticed thought-forms are birthed in your imagination and stored in your subconscious memory bank, qualifying your experiences in both the inner and outer worlds. If your worldview is optimistic, you will generally be self-motivated with a positive attitude and engage life with joy and enthusiasm; however, if your worldview tends to lean toward pessimism and negative interpretations of reality, then a sense of hopelessness and despair will overshadow your every encounter. People suffer from pain and confusion due to a belief in their own sense of powerlessness. Your encounters in the outer world are a reflection of your inner reality: you become what you think about; therefore, when you change your thinking, you will change your life.

Choosing your destiny – The Will to Change

When an entity undertakes to incarnate into another life on earth, it brings to it the tasks it has to fulfill; the plan is outlined. And in many cases the spirit itself has the right to discuss its future life with those spirit beings whose responsibility this is: thus the incarnating entity can contribute -- to a certain extent, according to its already acquired vision and capacity to judge -- as to how its destiny will unfold. For in the spirit state the entity has a wider view than in the body and understands that the purpose of life is not to have it as comfortable as possible, but to develop toward a higher state, to reach perfect bliss as rapidly as possible -- a state that does not exist on earth. The spirit knows that only through spiritual effort can its spiritual knowledge penetrate its intellect; but as a spirit it also knows that it cannot easily achieve this, and that, once incarnated, difficulties, tests, and even so-called disasters are often necessary to lead one to the right path and the right attitude.

Memory fades automatically the moment matter envelops the spirit. This is essential, for spiritual awareness has to be fought for, and this can happen only when one takes the trouble to search within the self -- not only outside and in general terms -- for God and the truths of Creation. Only within one's own soul can one recognize the very special meaning and purpose of one's life, together with the individual tasks that one has to fulfill. However, those who constantly allow themselves to be impressed by the outward aspects of life on earth lose this inner meaning, and sometimes they have to go through life after life without much progress, incarnating again and again for the same purpose.

The spirit knows the danger of earthly life, but knows also that if one lives life in the right way from the spiritual point of view, one can develop on earth disproportionately faster than in the spirit world, exactly because it is easier there. The difficulties on earth are mainly connected with matter and all that this implies. This is so partly because the memory has been extinguished and needs to be regained, and partly because matter contains so much temptation. Only those who overcome these difficulties can win and make the best of their lives on earth. The spirits about to be incarnated know that they need hardship to shake them into wakefulness so that they do not get imprisoned in matter and in all that matter attracts to it. Before incarnation, therefore, a spirit may ask the higher beings: "I beg you, help me, not only with your strength and guidance, but also, when you see that I am not fulfilling my quota, send me tests and trials, for when these come, I have a better chance to wake up and look at my life from a different point of view than when everything functions regularly and without friction, that is, when all my wishes are always fulfilled within the scope of the possible."

The Law, Three

If in a dream everyone praised you and then you awoke and found it was all a dream, would you be flattered? One dreamer puts a medal on another dreamer, and they do not know it. It is only the awakening that is important. Awakening and doing the will of God. God’s will is in you active as your own Imagination, and His will is to realize the imaginal state. To realize something novel or to maintain something in being, or to let things go that you feel are unlovely. I will do it all and only act, and stop re-acting. Then the whole book, The Bible, becomes alive. Leave all the “wise men to mock it or tolerate”. Let them reach the moon or the stars, they are all dead. Nothing lives outside of man. Man is the living soul, turning slowly into a life-giving Spirit. But you cannot tell it except in a parable or metaphor to excite the mind of man to get him to go out and prove it.

Leave the good and evil and eat of the Tree of Life. Nothing in the world is untrue if you want it to be true. You are the truth of everything that you perceive. “I am the truth, and the way, the life revealed.” If I have physically nothing in my pocket, then in Imagination I have MUCH. But that is a lie based on fact, but truth is based on the intensity of my imagination and then I will create it in my world. Should I accept facts and use them as to what I should imagine? No.

You should bear whatever you desire. If you want to be happily married, you should be. The world is only response. If you want money, get it. Everything is a dream anyway. When you awake and know what you are creating and that you are creating it, that is a different thing.

You change your mind and stay in that changed state until it unfolds. Man thinks he has to work himself out of something, but it is God asleep in you as a living soul, and then we are reborn as a life-giving spirit. We do it here in this little classroom called Earth or beyond the grave, for you cannot die. You can be just as asleep beyond the grave. I meet them constantly, and they are just like this, same loves and same hates. No change. They will go through it until they finally awake, until they cease to re-act and begin to act.

Enact a scene that implies you have what you desire, and to the degree that you are faithful to that state, it will unfold in your world and no power can stop it, for there is no other power.

Nothing is independent of your perception of it. Nothing is independent of the perceiver. Everything is “burned up” when I cease to behold it. It may exist for another, but not for me…Let us make our dream a noble one, for the world is infinite response to you, the being you want to be.

The Law, Two

There are infinite states intersecting the line of time. We become one with a certain state and it demonstrates itself in actual phenomena. What would it be like? And you name your desire. Remain in that state, and that state, by the passage of time, will unfold in your world. You do nothing about it once you have entered the state...for the outer must move by compulsion of the inner power.

If you make a fortune it means nothing. All the honors of men in a state of sleep are as nothing. You must “repent”. It has nothing to do with the so-called judgment of God. It is only a dream and man is reacting to the dream and he does not know that he is the dreamer and causing the dream.

The literal meaning of the Greek word translated as repent means “a change of mind.” It has nothing to do with the moral picture. The churches introduced that, but it has nothing to do with it. I don’t care what a man has done, if he changes his mind in this meaning of the word “repent” things will change, for he is then on the line of vertical line of states. He stands at a point on the states. There are infinite states and we must learn to distinguish between the state and the individual occupying the state. But I can now change and move into another state. I can in Time, do it in a split second and rise on the vertical line of the states.

So, “I come, only to teach the cross.”, said Paul. I will rise within myself and ignore the former state, and within myself I will assume that things are as I want them to be. If I remain faithful, the passage of Time will unfold it. So, Blake said, “Eternity is in love with the productions of Time.” I tell you, do not let anyone ever convince you that because of your past accomplishments or your present state in the world that you cannot change your position by rising within yourself, and then see the whole world respond.

The Law

The whole vast world is no more than man’s imagining pushed out. I must qualify that by saying that the world outside of man is dead, but Man is a living soul, and it responds to man, yet man is sound asleep and does not know it. The Lord God placed man in a profound sleep, and as he sleeps the world responds as in a dream, for Man does not know he is asleep, and then he moves from a state of sleep where he is only a living soul to an awakened state where he is a life-giving Spirit. And now he can himself create, for everything is responding to an activity in man which is Imagination. "The eternal body of man is all imagination; that is God himself." (Blake)

There is no outside world that is really alive. It depends, for its aliveness, on the activity of man who is a living soul. Man named the animals, the birds, the trees, – everything. God became man as a living soul, but He had to forget He was God to become man, and now man has to become a life-giving spirit, where he knows that everything is an imaginal activity.

We think everything in the world is completely independent from our perception of it, but the whole thing is dead. I see it, and come upon it, but the whole thing is dead.... frozen. Then I start an activity within me and then the world that was dead becomes alive, but not knowing I am doing it, I am sound asleep and then the whole thing takes over and it becomes a nightmare. But I must keep control and know it is dependant on me.

The world is infinite response and the thing that makes it alive is the living soul called generic man (male-female). And then God wove Himself into the brain of this generic man, and then He sleeps. As man begins to awaken he controls and takes over, and is no longer a victim of his vision, so he has control of his attention. Everyone is free to create his world as he wants it – if he knows that the whole thing is responding to him.

On this level of the dream people think of getting even. It is a dream of confusion and people are reacting, but man has to awaken and become an actor.

You can be anything in this world but you cannot know it or expect it to come unless you Act. If you react based on the past, you continue in the same pattern. To be the man you desire to be you must create the scene, and the whole world will be convulsed if that is necessary to bring it to pass. There is no other power but God, but God had to “forget” he was God in this state of sleep, and then He awakens and consciously determines the conditions he wants in the world.

Interdependence is a Living Practice

Interdependence is a living practice. Courtesy, manners, and right action are the expressions of a practice that allows brotherhood to find expression. It is most characteristic of the way of Love.

This practice begins with respect. We can respect the carpet that is walked on, the cup that is drunk from, the candle that bears light. In times past a dervish wouldn’t “put out” a candle; he would “put it to rest.” A dervish, knowing that the word dervish also means “threshold,” always paused in remembrance before stepping over the threshold. In this respect for inanimate things is the recognition of an identity between the observer and what is observed. Although the material world is not taken as the final Reality, it is considered a manifestation of Spirit and therefore worthy of respect.

If the material world deserves our gratitude and respect, if the Sufis kiss the tea glass from which they drink, how much more respect do they owe to creatures and beings?

It has been said by Muhammad’s wife, Aisha, “Humility is the foremost act of worship” (Ibn Hajar). Inner selflessness manifests itself in one’s actions.

The personality can either serve to be the reflecting lamp of our Essence – magnifying or focusing the light of the soul – or be the bushel that hides the light. Every human being carries a seed of the Essence that is meant to be actualized. This Essence has no limits; those are imposed only by the condition of the vehicle that carries it.

Death is a Shift from the Physical Body to the Energy Body

Even at this moment, we live simultaneously in two realms – the physical universe and the energy-verse, which invisibly interpenetrates the physical universe at every point. The very high frequency at which the energies of the energy-verse vibrate – far higher even than that of gamma rays (the highest measurable frequency in three-dimensional space) – means that these high-frequency energies cannot be detected by our most finely calibrated measuring devices. Yet they are present everywhere. The entire physical universe is saturated, like a sponge in water, with the undetectable high-frequency energies poetically referred to by Wheeler as quantum foam and suggested by string theory’s super-tiny vibrating rings and strings.

Until, observed, potential matter exists as energy waves in this interpenetrating, nonlocal, high-frequency two-dimensional realm. When the matter-wave is observed and, as a result, behaves like a particle, the frequencies of the energy that makes up the particle it comprises vibrates at a lower, and therefore detectable, frequency. This change, however, is not permanent. Although matter-waves wink instantaneously into measurable matter form when observed, they can just as readily wink instantaneously back into energy waves.

 

Just as a two-dimensional, purely energy hologram contains the information that continuously projects the physical universe into being, so too, we have our own personal two-dimensional purely energy hologram that contains the information that projects our physical body into being. Our personal two-dimensional energy body – variously called the astral body, light body, etheric body, spirit body, or subtle body – is the perfect, luminous counterpart of our physical body. Death, as the saints, sages, and near-death experiencers tell us, is only a shift from sensory awareness of our physical body to a more complete and more subtle awareness of our ever-present energy body.

Our energy body is constantly with us. It animates, controls, and continuously creates our physical body. Moreover, as the saints and sages tell us, our energy body contains what is most important, most characteristic, most essential; the things that give meaning to who and what we are: our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, our knowledge, our memories, our enduring character traits. When we die, these essential aspects of who we are continue to exist where they have always existed – in our nonlocal energy body.

  

In this way, our lives in this plane of existence are encompassed, surrounded, by the afterworld already….The body dies but the spiritual quantum field continues. In this way, I am immortal.

The Heavens: Hologram for the Universe

M-theory’s holographic principle states that all the information that organizes the energies that form the physical universe – including the natural laws that govern all matter-energy interactions and the entire history of matter-energy interactions going back to the big bang – resides in the interpenetrating, nonlocal energy-verse, not in the physical universe itself. This information exists in a hologram-like, dynamically evolving two-dimensional energy template that continuously projects the entire physical universe into being. Like the tiny dots that make up a newspaper image, ultra-tiny, subatomic-sized, three dimensional, pure energy “dots” make up the universe.

The three-dimensional, true-to-all-five-senses, holographically projected cosmic movie we know as the physical universe arises from continuous interaction between the Intelligently guided nonlocal information hologram in the energy-verse – the heavens – and the unlimited energy of the energy-verse itself. Without the interpenetrating energies of the energy-verse interacting with the heavenly hologram, the physical universe could not exist. Without Intelligence guiding the heavenly hologram, the physical universe could not form coherently.
